FORMER PAKISTAN cricket team captain Rashid Latif has criticised the Pakistani High Commissioner Wajid Shamsul Hassan over his recent statements on the match fixing scandal.
“He has no authority to talk on cricket”, said former captain in an exclusive interview.
He said that only Pakistan Cricket Board can only talk about the legal action against national players on spot fixing but High Commisioner has no right to talk on this sensitive issue.
Answering a question, Rashid Latif, who has played 37 test and 166 one-day internationals for Pakistan, said High Commissioner of Pakistan has misguided the whole nation through his comments and he should have not talked about legal action against International Cricket Council.“On Friday International Cricket Council has suspended three Pakistani players over betting scam in which Pakistan Cricket team captain, Salman Butt, fast bowler Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Asif is included and ICC has said if the Pakistani players found guilty they could face life banned”However, High Commissioner of Pakistan Shams Wajid Hassan strongly criticized the decision of ICC and said that ICC has misled High Commission of Pakistan in this matter and took the support of falsehood.“Chief Executive of ICC Haroon Logat came to meet me and stayed here at least for one hour. He ensured me not to put unnecessary pressure on Pakistani players and he did not talk about the suspension of Pakistani players”, he said.
