Parents play a major role in shaping the personality and character of a child
Students generally spend more time in the family than they spend at school. Parents therefore have a great role in shaping the personality and character of a child and in improving the child's academic performance.

This emerged at a gathering of academicians and  bureaucrats during a function held at Haryana Institute of Public Administration, Gurugram. The occasion was launching of a book titled "Help Your Child-Learn Better", authored by Dr G Prasanna Kumar, IAS officer (retired) and presently Director General of HIPA, Gurugram.

Releasing the book, MC Gupta, former Chief Secretary of Haryana said that  nature is the best teacher and time management is most valuable commodity in life.

Congratulating the author, Gupta hoped that the book would be very helpful for parents in shaping the personality and character of their child.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr G Prasana Kumar said that parents should work in collaboration  with the school and college and take keen interest in all academic and extracurricular activities  of their children. The book contains several useful tips for parents to help enable their children develop essential values of life, choosing the right career, developing the faculty of creative thinking, learning from nature and managing the time for better results.

Present among the dignitaries who attended the event were BP Khandelwal, IAS (retired); officers of Haryana, SY Qureshi, MD Asthana, Mohinder Kumar, Piush Pandarawani, Ranjeev Dalal, K Koshy and Padamashri KC Johorey, AS Vinay Shankar and Meenakashi Ahuja.
