Parking mess at Vyapar Kendra in Palam Vihar, Gurgaon is no less than a maze
Vyapar Kendra- the only local market of Palam Vihar in Gurgaon draws lot of residential crowd every evening which ultimately results into a mess in the parking lot. Vyapar Kendra is one stop for all the basic needs of the people. The local market houses approximately 100 shops ranging from apparels to food joints and grocery shops to departmental stores.

The residents of Palam Vihar or nearby sectors such as sector- 21, 22A and B and sector- 23A drop by the place every evening which creates a havoc in the vicinity and it becomes a tricky situation for the security guards to handle the same.

“The playground next to gate number 2 can be used as a spacious parking lot, although the police doesn't allow the residents to park their vehicles over there. One needs to think twice to drive to the market as the parking mess is a everyday affair. The association seems to rubberneck the situation and doing nothing. I fail to see any security guard or any traffic personnel handling the parking mess. The market opens at 11 am or around noon and therefore, the market witnesses maximum footfall in the evening,” said Ramesh Chaudhary, a regular visitor to the market.

The situation worsens for those who visit for the first time as the market is constructed like a maze where one could easily get lost in. Palam Vihar's Vypara Kendra has a parking lot for approximately 100 cars. However, the weather changes at the peak hours in evening and one can effortlessly notice cars parked on the main roads which further leads to a traffic jam in the proximity. There are few empty plots in the neighborhood which serves as a parking lot.

The shopkeepers park their cars and motorbikes in the parking lot and then its the residents who visit the market. The parking lot may breathe easy on weekdays nonetheless the weekends are horrific.

However, Ram Bir Singh, the manager of Welfare Association of Vypara Kendra said, “We have never faced any issue with the parking lot in Vyapar Kendra. The association has deployed five security guards that look after the parking of the market. The market mostly observes the residential crowd of Palam Vihar and thus the association is capable enough to handle the parking.”

While commenting on the parking subject, a dry clean shop owner in the Vypar Kendra had some contrary views. He said, "The parking lot is something which needs to be tackled by the authorities at the earliest. Despite the fact that the authorities are denying the issue one cannot snub the problems. We also park our cars and then it's the people who come to the market. Even though the association has deployed security guards, the problem has not seen the daylight."

A Gurgaon police constable Ram Mehar Singh who was posted in the police booth to manage the locality nuisance said, “The parking is not much of a issue in the market and traffic personnel take their respective positions in the locality to manage the same. If the parking lot is not vacant in the morning or evening thereupon people can always park in the playground.”

All the above statements make one thing crystal clear that the government authorities are blind to the parking mess whereas the residents or the common man is confronting the issue on daily basis.
