Parts of India to witness partial solar eclipse on March 9
A partial solar eclipse will be visible on March 9 in parts of India. However, in Delhi, due to the small fraction of the Sun obscured by the Moon (0.9 per cent), this eclipse will not be very obvious.

In most parts of India and Nepal the sun will rise partially eclipsed. However, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Papua New Guinea will witness more than 50 per cent partial eclipse. On the other hand, Cambodia will get more than 50 per cent partial eclipse.

However, a total solar eclipse will take place on March 8-9, 2016 in many parts of the world. A total solar eclipse occurs when the Moon's apparent diameter is larger than the Sun's, blocking all direct sunlight, turning day into darkness. Totality of eclipse occurs in a narrow path across Earth's surface, with the partial solar eclipse visible over a surrounding region thousands of kilometers wide.

According to NASA, total solar eclipse will have a magnitude of 1.0450 visible across an area of Pacific Ocean, beginning in Indonesia, and ending in the northern Pacific Ocean. Total solar eclipse will be visible in Palembang, Sumatra and some places of Indonesia. It is said that in the Eastern Pacific Ocean the totality will exceed duration of more than 4 minutes.

Also, the moon will turn new and super moon on March 8 or 9, 2016, depending on one's time zone.
