‘PATRAPANDI’ A village of Thuba panchayat under Nandpur block of Koraput District is being neglected as the government help is still out of the reach of the villagers. It seems the Primary health care in this village is a far away dream to the villagers. Recently, about 16 villagers reported with severe fever and 4are in serious condition.
Reportedly, in this village about 220 families reside and the total population is more than 900. This village is divided in two wards Ward No. 3 and 4. About 10 tube wells and 3 wells are provided to this village with more than 900 heads. Out of the three wells, only one is in working condition. Due to the dependence on this single well by so many people, the surrounding of the well becomes un-hygienic. Starting from washing of cloths, bathing, washing utensils, etc is practiced by the villagers at the single well.
The house hold wastes are thrown here and there inside the village, resulting in blockage of the drainage system in the village. Due to this, many small un-hygienic water bodies have developed inside the village. By consuming contaminated water and adopting un-hygienic surroundings, many villagers fall sick. Day to day the fever is spreading among the villagers. It is more shocking that there is no report with the health department. After getting information from the villagers, one ANM and ZSCS Pharmacist rushed to the village. They treated the villagers suffering from fever. Looking at the scarcity of drinking water, the ward member Surendra Dasri along with Kamulu Kahada and few other villagers reported to the concerned department. But the result was not fruitful to the villagers. Now it is urged to the District Administration and Block development Authority take some necessary actions.
