While LUKEWILD's past collections effortlessly stand out in the international market, what really put the label on the map and got people's attention was Patricia Luke's distinct presence in the fashion industry. Over the past three years Patricia has showcased her designs in a long list of runway shows and fashion competitions around the world. What's more, she's been awarded for her designs at nearly every turn.
In 2015 she won the coveted Starlite Marbella Award for Best Entrepreneur Designer for The New York Garden Collection, which she debuted during the popular Starlite Festival in Marbella, Spain during the Marbella Crea Competition. After the win, Luke was chosen as one of the best fashion designers of Andalucia by Spain's Association of New and Young Designers (ANDE) and invited to present her next collection, the FW 2016 Poseidon Collection, in the annual fashion show competition. The following year Patricia was invited to present her Raices SS/2017 Collection the Starlite Festival's Marbella Crea Competition, this time taking home the prestigious first prize Starlite Marbella Award for Best Collection of the Night.
"I called that collection 'Raices' which in Spanish means 'Roots' and I dedicated to my town of Marbella. I am very proud of being part of such a beautiful place and was totally inspired by that feeling to create this collection," explains Patricia. "The collection was made if exclusive and unique silk dresses designed to increase the sensuality and power of the woman."
Patricia's designs for the Raices Collection are the epitome of the beautiful, flowing gowns LUKEWILD has become known for in recent years.
With several dresses boasting startling high slits up to the hip and neck lines plunging to the sternum and beyond, the cuts Patricia has concocted for many of her pieces radiate seduction. Although unequivocally sexy, what's so unique is the way these same pieces maintain a classy appeal. That's the beauty of Patricia Luke's work as a designer. Her eye for fantastic materials and ability to drape the fabric in just the right way marks the difference between those overly provocative pieces that leave nothing to the imagination, and the high fashion pieces that flow just right, and make the wearer feel simultaneously sexy, feminine, and elegant.
"I love to use silk for most of my dresses because I like the way it feels and how it flows," says Patricia about why silk is her fabric of choice.
Since she first discovered her drive to create and design dresses early on in her youth, fashion has remained a lifelong love affair for LUKEWILD designer Patricia Luke.
"I love the way people express themselves through the clothes that they are wearing each day, the way a mood can be visible by a sweater, a dress, a sleeve... Fashion can give us much more than colors, shapes and forms, it can tell us about a personality, a specific moment in a person's life. How important and empowering the right clothes, and even the right under garments, can be is one of the reasons why I love fashion the most," explains Patricia.
Originally from Marbella, Spain Patricia spent much of her time as a child designing clothes for her sister, a starting point that would later prove to be the stepping stone that propelled her to where she is today.
She says, "My sister was always my top choice model, and she played an important part in my career as a fashion designer. I have always loved to make her new clothes and she was extremely excited for me to do it."
Patricia Luke is one of the few dress designers on an international scale who have managed to make such an impressive mark in the industry at such a young age. At 30 years old, Patricia's dynamic creations seem fitted to someone who has been designing for decades-- and if you count the fact that she began designing her first dresses during childhood, well then technically she has. Still, her seasoned skill when it comes to creating patterns that combine both classic and innovative elements are definitely ahead of the curve and worth taking note.
Patricia is currently working on LUKEWILD's Copacabana SS/2017 swimwear collection, which will be unveiled within the next few months. For the upcoming collection Patricia drew inspiration from The Copacabana Times Square, which has been referred to as New York City's most legendary and cosmopolitan nightclub.
She says, "The Copacabana Times Square Is a place full of history and in my opinion very inspirational and well connected with the idea of the tropical swimwear collection I had in mind. It is very special to me and I wanted to connect one of my creations to this magic place."
