Paula Abdul was not present on the sets of the American Idol which started its ninth season on a high note with an estimated audience of nearly 30 million people. Despite losing judge Paula Abdul, the American Idol 2009 debut episode saw a mere 10 per cent drop compared to 2008. Tuesday’s viewer ship nearly matched the last season’s debut audience of 30.4 million, according to a preliminary Nielson Co. figures released Wednesday.Abdul had left the show over a salary despite. It was the first test of how viewers would respond to American Idol without Adbul. However, Abdul’s absence had very little impact and effect on the show’s viewer ship. Her place is being filled by celebrity panellists which includes Victoria Beckham and Katy Perry and later this season by new judge Ellen DeGeneres.
American Idol will face a bigger challenge the next season as Judge Simon Cowell recently announced he’s leaving to start another talent show, "The X Factor” on Fox.The former Laker girl and animated cat collaborator Paula Abdul used to dance, sing, hug people and even used to compliment people on their shiny outfits and funny hats. Did the viewers miss her?

i decided not to watch AI because of paula 's departure.I always support her .Love her so much and of course:I miss her
Paula who? No, commenting on people's shiny outfits and funny hats isn't judging on talent. To me the only help she was there for was to cushion the blow from Simon's comments.
