Some of them even use coal-run Anghities (fireplaces) to warm up and at times they are suffocated at night in their closed room.
But God takes care of His Creatures through noble souls. Some embroidery sales’ girls sitting on the pavements of Jan Path, Connaught Place and Shanker Market have come to the rescue of these stray dogs.
They have raised funds/ donations and soempart from the donations, received from foreigners purchase woollen coats and gunny bags to keep these dogs warm. The cost of a coat varies between Rs 150 – Rs 250, depending upon the size. And the happiness of these dogs can be gauged from the fact that they are happinly moving around in the hands of their survivors.
It’s the foremost duty of our State Govt under the guidance of SPCA (Special Protection for the Cruelty to the Animals) to provide a reasonable facility to the stray dogs as well.
Our hearts go out for the commendable work these girls are engaged in and we want to know about the work NGO’s are doing for these people and stray dogs to fight the biting cold.
