In addition, the management has also agreed to induct the 1200 casual workers over the next 10-days. This decision has been one of the major factors that workers have agreed to call off the strike. It was on October 7, that workers at Manesar plant had again resorted to a strike after the company refused to allow entry to casual staff.
Workers alleged that the company had failed to honour the agreement that was arrived on October 1. The present agreenment was signed with unions of Maruti Suzuki, Suzuki Powertrain and Suzuki Motorcycle.
To defuse the crisis, the management agreed to review the cases of all suspended employees and drop charges against them in cases where the charges were not serious. The union workers, however, demanded that all employees, who were suspended by the company should be taken back.
The company has also agreed to provide transport facility to the workers, which was withdrawn earlier during the strike. In another victory for the workers, company as a prelude to the labour union agreement, agreed to set up a grievance redressal committee, which will have representatives from the major stakeholders.
