Peepli Live awarded Best Feature Film in Durban Film Festival
Aamir's forthcoming movie Peepli Live directed by d?butante director Anusha Rizvi has won the coveted Best Feature Film award at the 31st Durban International Film Festival.
WINNING AN award for a movie that has not yet been released is commendable enough. And, when you have a perfectionist like Aamir Khan as the captain of the ship, all is certainly going to be well.
The jury at the film festival included producers like Aihara Hiromi of Japan, Christoph Thoke of Germany and South African academic, writer and producer Bhekizizwe Peterson. Upon winning the award, Aamir said that Peepli Live has been well received at all major film festivals. The film was included in the Sundance Film Festival and was the first Indian film to be selected for the competition section. It has also been screened at the Berlin Film Festival and also at the Durban Film Festival, where it won the Best Feature Film award. The film is a satire on the farmer suicides which, have been plaguing the country for some time and the political and media response it gathers in India. Meanwhile, Aamir Khan is promoting his movie in Los Angeles, New York, New Jersey, Dubai and Australia. The film will hit the screens on August 13 and will be released by UTV Motion Pictures.
