A Pennsylvania woman Colleen LaRose, also known as 'JihadJane' was charged with plotting to provide material support to terrorists and conspiracy to kill in a foreign country.
A PENNSYLVANIA woman Colleen LaRose, also known as "JihadJane" was charged with plotting to provide material support to terrorists and conspiracy to kill in a foreign country. LaRose was accused with five unindicted co-conspirators of recruiting men on the Internet to wage violent jihad in South Asia and Europe. Colleen LaRose of Montgomery County, charged with agreeing to kill a Swedish citizen on orders from the terrorists.
According to the US Attorney’s Office statement, LaRose or JihadJane and the five unidentified co-conspirators allegedly discussed plans including martyring themselves, soliciting funds for terrorists and avoiding travel restrictions to wage a “violent Jihad.” In June 2008, the 46-year-old LaRose posted a comment on YouTube saying she was "desperate to do something to help" suffering Muslims.
According to the indictment, LaRose traveled to Europe and tracked her intended target online in an effort to complete her task. JihadJane is being held at the Federal Detention Center in Philadelphia. JihadJane or LaRose may faces life imprisonment and a $1 million fine if she convicted.
