People file complaint against Naxals without fear
Gone are the days of people fearing for their lives as they have started voicing their protest against the Naxals in various parts of Jharkhand. With increased faith in the Police, people are helping authorities against the Naxals.

EARLIER IF you registered a complaint against Naxals you had to pay the price. This is not so anymore. In rural Jharkhand, the tribal's in Naxal affected areas are coming out in large numbers to fight against the atrocities of the Naxals by filing complaint against them.

In Latehar district, in villages including Garu, Mahua and Netarhat, people want justice and are registering police complaints against Naxals in large numbers. When asked, a villager Suraj Dev gupta said, "People were scared of Naxals and were hesitant to file a police complaint. But now we have police support and other security support, which has strengthened our faith in the policing system. This is why people are going to the police stations without any hesitation to register complaints," reported AFP.

In Jharkhand and other Naxal affected states, the Maoists often kill people as they suspect them of being police informers. The people, afraid of Naxal harassment, are often hesitant to visit police stations. Chandan Kumar Singh, who is in charge of Netarhat police station, talked about the people's faith in the police. He told AFP, “We have developed faith among the people and they are coming to us without any fear to file complaint about the atrocities committed against them by the Naxals. We do act immediately on their complaint.”

Naxalism is not just a growing security threat but an obstacle to economic and social development of many states in the country. The struggle of one section of people - instead of paving for redressal are causing distress, and this is why locals are saying enough is enough.
