LUX PERFECT bride, a reality show that is aired on Star Plus has created quite a stir in the past few weeks. The show began with five prospective grooms ‘kunwars’ entering the set with their mummijis (mothers) who were to select the Perfect Bride for their sons from among 10 prospective brides.
As the show progressed, the candidates for brides, the grooms and their mothers soon developed a bond among themselves as well as with the audience. The show not only succeeded in creating a sizzle but has also raised several eyebrows in terms of highlighting the values and ideas of prospective mothers-in law and their expectations from their would-be daughters-in-law.
The show has proved to be a roller coaster ride for the candidates and the audiences alike and has certainly kept us entertained so far. One cannot overlook the glamorous
Pooja Tandon and the outspoken Sudesh Rani Chauhan (Hitesh’s
mummi ji), the docile Vivek and the confused Yashdeep. Today, Lux Perfect Bride has become the talk of almost every Indian household and people are openly expressing their ideas and views on how who’s being manipulative and who’s being unjust and so on.
Akansha Seth, 28, Business Developer says, “I simply love the concept of Lux Perfect Bride. It is fair play. At least, the girls too can voice their opinions and ideas. But I do feel that Yashdeep’s mother should have been a bit open minded about Gurpreet Kaur and allowed their love to bloom. Who knows the duo might have gotten married on the show?”
“Lux Perfect Bride is one spicy blend of emotions comprising of love, heartbreak, jealousy and manipulation,” Says Karuna Thapar. “The show has highlighted what mothers-in-laws expect from their bahus and how their expectations often collide with those of their sons.”
The show has become a household name and the candidates too have become celebrities. But all eyes are set on the stage as to which Kanya will walk away with the crown of Lux Perfect Bride.
Manish Mathur, 31, Manager, says, “I find
Pooja Tandon really pretty and hope she wins the title but at the same time I feel Gurpreet Kaur is extremely talented and is ‘perfect’ bride material. She is a strong contender and particularly after her wild card entry, she has more chances of winning the title.”
Akula Khatri, 52, housewife, says, “If I had to choose a bride for my son she would be someone like Gurpreet Kaur. I think she is a very talented girl and is also very soft spoken. She is great at all household tasks and is also very pretty. I wish Yashdeep’s mother had acknowledged her talents and accepted their relationship. They would have made a great couple.”
Ankan Bhargava, 29, Businessman, says, “
Pooja Tandon certainly does not deserve to win the title of Perfect Bride. She might be good to look at but she seems to be a big hypocrite. I feel very sorry for Hitesh Chauhan who truly adored her and was jilted by her. I wish he moves on and gets married to a girl who loves him unconditionally.”
Unexpected eliminations and crazy breakups have given the show a cutting edge over other
reality shows. If the mother wants a
bahu and the son wants a wife… who will eventually decide their fate?
Harshit Suri, 27, Consultant, says, “I was quite shocked when Nandita Sharma was eliminated by Sudesh Rani Chauhan. She was a strong contestant but I do admit she was confused. Her priority was her career and not marriage. She should think about getting married once she is completely settled.”
Neha Khurana, 28, housewife, says, “I really love Rajbir and Priyanka Sharma’s pair. The two are made for each other. Thank God everything is settled between them and I hope she wins the title of Lux Perfect Bride. ”
Rakesh Batra, 42, Businessman, says, “If there is a wild card entry for a girl, there should be a wild card entry for a boy as well and Rajbir should be called back on the show. He was a good candidate and should not have been eliminated so soon.”
Rakesh goes on to add, “Yashdeep and his mother should not have come on this show. This platform is not meant for such stringent families. She felt that girls like Nandita Sharma or
Pooja Tandon would have made better brides for her son rather than Gurpreet Kaur which was so funny. I say this because Gurpreet has all the qualities of being a good daughter-in-law (like she wants) whereas both Nandita and Pooja are too career oriented and might not have been able to live up to her demands.”
Lila Joshi, housewife, says, “Yashdeep and Rumpa would have made a nice couple too. But maybe his mom knows best. But yes, Hitesh and Rumpa should not get married. It would be a disaster.”
The nation looks on as the grand day approaches. Everyone is wondering… which couple will finally get married on the show and who will be the Perfect Bride?
