The Andhra Pradesh State Human Rights Commission Kakumanu Peda Peri Reddy released a booklet on 'Child Rights- Legislations' (balala hakkulu-chattalu), published by Association for Promoting Social Action (APSA), with the support of Plan India. The book-let was published giving key points of all legislations related to child protection.
HE ALSO relesed a poster on "Right to Education Act", published by APSA at APSA's office in Padmarao Nagar on Friday. The poster narrates sailent features of the act. Speaking on this occasion, Peri Reddy suggested the NGOs should provide supportive role for affective implementation of various legislations intended for child protection.

Peri Reddy made it clear that the primary responsibility of the implementation of all legislations will be rested on the government. However, he said non-governmental organisations should extend needful assistance and also need to create awareness in the community on various legislations enacted by the government. Appreciating the work done by the APSA by publishing a booklet giving sailent features of all legislations on child rights, he said this would be a ready reference to all child activists. It will also be useful for the staff working in various government organisaitons, teachers and school management committee members, he added.
APSA Director S Srinivas Reddy said that in the absence of awareness on various progressive legislations the people are unable to seek implementation of such acts. He said they will be distirbuting these publications in all schools, anganwadi centers and also share with various non-governmental and governmental organisations.
