Petrol bombs hurled at a theater in Madurai by a Dalit group to protest against Baahubali
A Dalit group allegedly caused a chaos outside a Madurai theater, at New Natham Road in the State of Tamil Nadu, around 11.00 a.m., which was screening SS Rajamouli's magnum opus - Baahubali on Wednesday. Reportedly, the protesters threw petrol bomb at the theater, and demanded to omit a 'derogatory' word from the film, that allegedly hurts their sentiments. Apparently, a minor fire broke out, which was later doused.

After the complaint was made with the Tallakulam police, around seven people, including Chandru, Madurai district organizer of Puratchi Puligal (Revolutionary Tigers) - a Dalit outfit were detained. The bomb was thrown as a mark of protest. The protesters were demanding a ban on the mega-budget film, as according to them, it contains unpleasant remarks against Dalits, which is a direct attack on their sentiments.

According to the police, no injuries took place outside the 'Tamil, Jaya' multiplex. A poster of the film, put up on the compound wall of the multiplex was made the target. However, the fire that erupted after the explosion didn't harm anyone.

A few pamphlets were left by the group at the location of the eruption, that appeal to the State administration to ban the movie. Following the attack, sufficient police forces have been deployed at various multiplexes, as the outfit has been protesting at various sites in the State for the last few days, as per the police.
