Larry King,76, announced his departure on June 29 from the prime-time talk show after hosting the show for almost for a quarter century. He would step down from the weeknight show this fall.

Morgan is contractually bound to continue on NBC’s "America's Got Talent" for three more years.

According to an industry official, the CNN job would occupy "second position" in Morgan’s work priority. However, there is no confirmation regarding the negotiations between CNN and Morgan. Morgan is hot favorite amongst such candidates as Katie Couric and Ryan Seacrest.
