Pilot project to maintain the government hospital in Punjab kicks off
Health Department will soon introduce a new scheme for the cleaning, security, greening and maintenance of District hospitals of state while same was introduced as pilot project in Civil Hospital Jalandhar.
This was disclosed here on Friday afternoon, by Health and Family Welfare Minister Mr. Surjit Kumar Jayani, during his surprise visit to civil hospital Sri Muktsar Sahib. He said that under the scheme all these tasks would be given on contract so that doctors can provide their maximum time to treat the patients by sparing doctors from the burden of cleaning and maintenance of hospitals.

He said that campaign against drugs would be continuing till treatment of all the drug addicts completed. He said that 10 bedded Drug de-addiction center at civil Hospital Sri Muktsar Sahib and 50 bedded Rehabilitation Center at Civil Hospital Badal would be make functional soon. There is no shortage of medicine in drug de-addiction centers and department is providing medicine immediately as per the demand raised by hospitals, he added.

Health Minister also visited all the wards of hospital and got feedback from patients about facilities available in the hospital. Health minister ordered the transfer of a staff member of hospital, about her a complaint was raised by father of newly born child regarding demand of gift money (Party) by her. He also took a serious note about not availability of bed sheet to one patient in the ward. He asked the civil surgeon to personally review the referral cases to make sure that no one could be harassed. He said that if any doctor, official or employee found guilty of not performing his duty properly, action would be taken.

Jayani said that he would continuously conduct surprise checks at hospitals all over the state and interact with the patients and general public. He asked the Civil Surgeon & SMO?s that proper Medical facilities should be provided the patients, wards should be neat and clean and compounds of the hospitals should be flourished with greenery.  ?No official would be spared who does not perform their duty properly and the district level officers should also ensure timely attendance of supporting staff in hospitals?, added Jayani.

Prominent who were present on the occasion included Ex-Rajay Sabha Member Mrs. Gurcharn Kaur Panjgrai, Deputy Commissioner Mr. Jaskirn Singh and Civil Surgeon Dr. Narinder Singh.
