Pink Moon of April: Mystery unravelled!
On social media, the pictures of Pink Moon are being shared. When my wife received such a picture, she got curious and asked me: Will the moon really turn pink on April 11 – the coming full moon night?

I said that it won’t turn pink, but it will appear so, if she started watching it from April 1 to 11 every night from 23.00 to 00.00 hours. In such a condition, not only the moon will appear pink but she would also turn pink with more blood flushing her face and the eyes. It is more of ‘mind-over-matter’ phenomenon, I added.

“Hope, you are not joking or pulling a fast one on me. I would have believed had you not included April 1 in your statement. I smell a fish there since it is the ‘All fools’ Day’,” she retorted.

“But, if stay with the smell or mental visualisation of a fish for ten days, on April 11, you will see a moon called ‘Full Fish Moon’,” I said seriously.

She went away saying that she would Google for the right information and came back yelling at me saying that she was not a fool.

“I have found that it is a metaphor. The full moon in the month of April is called Pink Moon since in the west, during this month pink flowers bloom. So, this spectacle of full moon in April is named after the pink flowers which are widespread by this time in spring,” she said proudly calling Google a better Guru.

However, I felt relieved since my wife will now bother Guru Google more than me in finding answers to the questions raised on social media.
