This is an article calling upon the Indian television and media fraternity to stop copying the reality shows from abroad and come out with fresh ideas of their own.
HUMAN BRAIN is said to be the most developed one in the animal kingdom. It shows superiority in terms of intelligence, logic, reasoning and creativity. Man is blessed with unusual power of creativity, which makes him different from others. This is also proved in terms of different types of content produced by different media. Be it internet, mobile phones, TV, radio; if there is no creativity nothing survives in this competitive world. Even though Indian media has to be applauded for its creative contribution, plagiarism is a common phenomenon as a number of television shows in India are ‘inspired’ (read: replicas) of shows abroad.
Many reality shows in India are imitations of shows from abroad. Big Brother ‘inspired’ from Big Boss, Kaun Banega Crorepati from Who Wants To Be Millionaire, Sach Ka Saamna from Moment Of Truth, and Indian Idol from American Idol are some of them. A few of these shows like Kaun Banega Crorepati and Indian Idol has become popular among the people. As it is broadcast at prime time, the viewership is high. Since the participants are chosen from all around the country, it creates interest amongst the viewers to watch people from their localities. On the contrary, certain shows like Sach Ka Saamna are banned .Such shows do not go well with the traditions and beliefs of the country. Even though they are providing entertainment to the people, it has to be noted that they are replicas or ideas borrowed from shows abroad.
More and more reality shows and other programmes are getting introduced and nearly all are imitations from shows abroad. It is high time that Indian media came up with creative shows which are not replicas of western ones. There needs to come a day when shows abroad are inspired by us, rather than us being inspired by them.

The author of this post needs to get his facts right as the shows that he has mentioned in the article are actually produced by the same companies throughout the world so there is no plagiarism whatsoever.
