A PLANE reportedly carrying 152 passengers crashed over Margala Hills, north of Pakistan's capital Islamabad on Wednesday. At the time of the crash there were 152 passengers on board the plane including the cabin crew. All the passengers are feared dead.
The authorities have sent in rescue helicopters at the site of the crash and the entire area is engulfed in thick black smoke. The cause of the catastrophe remains unknown though airport authorities claim that the aircraft lost contact with the air traffic controller (ATC) before it plunged into the thick forest area.
As per the Pakistani media reports, due to heavy rains near Islamabad, the thick fog and unfavourable circumstances are posing a hindranceto the ongoing rescue operations. The authorities have ensured the people that all measures are being taken to keep the operation going. The government may soon launch phone helpline, so that the kin of the people who were aboard the flight can keep themselves updated from time to time.
