Please take me home, want to meet my mother: Case of missing son

'My name is Mahesh, and am called fondly as Pandu by my mother, Durga and father Ramu. While playing outside my home near Swati High School, Ayyappa Society on Nov 18, 2012, I lost my way. Since then my moist eyes are searching for my mother.'

WHILE COMING back, after my morning jogging today in Madapur, I saw a lady, Durga pasting a one-page leaflet highlighting the information about her missing son, Mahesh. I spoke with her to comprehend her plight and sorrow. That tumultuous narrative I had with her was very heartbreaking and compelling, and it left me in tears virtually.

Durga and her husband Ramu hail from a socio-economically downtrodden section of our society. They strive hard to make both ends meet. A housemaid with some IT executives, she sweeps, washes utensils and clothes to facilitate her husband in sufficing basic necessities. Together, they earn a paltry sum of around Rs. 6000 per month.

Just like any other parent they also envisioned to render better future to their kids as was apparent from her pain. She has filed a missing person complaint at Madapur Police Station, Hyderabad.

About two months have gone by; Durga is still running from one corner to another, from one office to another office hoping someday her lost bud will be united with her.

The poverty-stricken family has been wrecked by havoc due to their missing son Mahesh. A pall of gloom has descended in Mahesh’s family.
