Plight of RTI is poor in Uttar Pradesh
In Uttar Pradesh State Information Commission (UPSIC), cases are being heard without giving any consideration to the documents/papers on record (file of the case).
IN UTTAR Pradesh State Information Commission (UPSIC), cases are being heard without giving any consideration to the documents/papers on record (file of the case).

The situation attains more gravity because one such case was heard by none other than the Uttar Pradesh CIC Ranjit Singh Pankaj.

In hearing dated November 23, 2010, of case number S1-1460/C/10Km. Aishwarya Sharma vs PIO office of Chief Minister, Uttar Pradesh. The PIO Dr Nand Lal stated that the matter was related to nagar nigam Lucknow and the same has been transferred to Lucknow nagar nigam. The fact was that the matter was related to office of Chief Minister, Uttar Pradesh only as little Aishwarya had shot this RTI to search her letter that was lost in CM office. The CIC of Uttar Pradesh didn’t bother to have a look at the letter of section 6 of little Aishwarya and blindly believed what the PIO uttered.

The case was disposed off by the order dated November 23, 2010.

"I always wonder how a person holding a post of this stature can behave so arbitrarily.”

But with sycophants being appointed as info-commissioners, how can one expect any law-abiding behaviour. “So, need of the hour is to revamp the appointment process of info-commissioners and make it transparent and participatory," said RTI activist Usha of social group Yaishwaryaj.
