PM Modi in catch-22 over apex court's judgment in SC/ST Act misuse issue
Narendra Modi, the Chanakya of modern politics, who has weathered many storms throughout his political career ranging from Godhra to cutting down party stalwarts like Advani to size and successfully launching mission 'Congress-mukt -Bharat', faces the toughest challenge of his life in shape of the apex court's judgement in the SC/ST Act misuse issue.

The final Supreme Court judgement on this sensitive issue is eagerly awaited not only in India but across the world.

If the apex court stands by its judgement of checking misuse of the Act, then Modi will be under tremendous pressure to bring an ordinance. This is catch-22 situation for Modi as it will annoy the upper caste voters. Forces inimical to Modi including his own party members who have been cut down to size and the Congress have joined hands to destabilise the Modi government.

According to political observers trouble for Modi was started in 2015 by Mohan Bhagwat with his statement of reviewing the reservation policy. Although the Supreme Court judgement only cautioned about the misuse of the SC/ST Act, giving out some guidelines, but opponents of Modi are projecting him as a villain who wants to put an end to reservation.

The feedback given by intelligence agencies has jolted Modi, who as a part of damage control exercise, has asked his party MPs to reach out to Dalits and OBCs and clear the doubts in their minds.

DP Vats, Rajya Sabha member from Haryana has said that people of the country should see the hidden agenda of the opposition parties in destablising the Modi government.

According to political analysts if this false propaganda over the issue is not tackled politically then the BJP could face a major loss of Dalit votes across the country especially in Haryana, Punjab, UP, MP, Delhi and Bihar, causing a major setback to Modi's dream of making India Congress free.

Outbursts by some Dalit BJP MPs, accusing the Modi government of planning to end reservation has jostled Narendra Modi.

The fact of the matter is that Modi has failed to handle this issue. His most trusted aide Amit Shah though has major achievements to his credit, but here he too failed to judge the gravity of the situation.
