PM Modi inaugurates Reading Month celebrations in Kerala
While inaugurating the Reading Month celebration in Kerala under the auspice of the PN Panicker Foundation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "There can be no joy greater than reading and no strength greater than knowledge."

Calling Kerala a 'torch-bearer and inspiration' and late Panicker as the 'driving force' in the field of literacy through library network in the state, Modi added that he believed that reading was helpful in developing social responsibility, service to the nation and service to humanity; curing the evils in society and nation; and 'spreading the idea of peace along with respect for unity and integrity of the nation'.

He appreciated the partnership of PN Panicker Foundation with government agencies, private sector entities and civil society organisations to 'promote reading as a means to grow and prosper' in the current 'information age'.

Mentioning about the Foundation's pilot project of Digital Libraries in collaboration with Indian Public Library Movement, New Delhi, Modi said that a focus on digital literacy was the need of the hour.

He urged the people to spread the reading and library movement in the entire country for bringing 'social and economic change'; creating 'a super-structure of a better society' and making India a 'land of wisdom and knowledge' once again.
