PM Modi to announce Rs 1 lakh crore development package for J&K
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to announce a massive development package for the Jammu and Kashmir on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, which is falling on 18 or 19 July.
Though the exact date of announcement is not declared, but sources said that PM Modi may announce a package of around Rs. 1 lakh crore at a function in Jammu or at BJP's Eid-Milan gathering in Srinagar that is scheduled around July 22.

The move of 'rehabilitation and development plan' would indeed produce a sigh of relief to the state PDP-BJP government that is going through a drought of resources and has earned a dubious credibility.

According to the J&K government, the package would comprise a significant share for 2014 flood victims who have not been compensated even after 10 months of the mishap.

Along with finance minister Arun Jaitley, PM Modi has been invited to a function in Jammu city on July 17, for the birth centenary celebrations of the former J&K minister and MP Girdhari Lal Dogra. Dogra is also the father-in-law of Arun Jaitley.

"If all goes well there is a possibility that Modiji could attend party's Eid Milan gathering in Srinagar, around July 22," said a senior BJP member, as per a Economic Times report.

"I have held at least 12 extensive and exhaustive meetings at various levels in New Delhi to finalize this plan. Mr Jaitley along with senior bureaucrats in Prime Ministers Office and several other secretary level officials, played a huge role in this," said J&K finance minister Dr Haseeb Drabu.
