PM Narendra Modi launches 'Jan Dhan Yojana'
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched today his mammoth pet project, the Jan Dhan Yojana or the People's Wealth scheme. This scheme promises a bank account for every Indian household.

The scheme launched by Narendra Modi is a mega financial inclusion plan under which bank accounts and debit cards with inbuilt insurance cover of Rs 1 lakh will be provided to crores of persons with no access to formal banking facilities.

There are plans to open around 1.5 crore bank accounts on the first day of the launch of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana. The main launch has taken place in the National Capital, but 76 other functions were also organized at different places in the country to mark the occasion.

Narendra Modi had sent 7.25 lakh emails to bank officers informing them about the Jan Dhan Yojana scheme. This scheme was announced by him in his Independence Day address to the nation.

Statistics says that, around 10 crore people are not connected with banking system in India. To successfully launch this scheme many new branches will be opened which will in turn create new jobs.

This whole scheme is an attempt to remove poverty from India. Modi feels that Direct money transfer to bank accounts will be a tool to fight against corruption.
