PMANE condemns police (in) action
The Vallioor Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Stanley Jones, was said to be rounded up on the Christmas Eve 2012 along with the brother of Killioor Congress MLA, John Jacob, when they were purportedly engaged in hunting wild and endangered animals for the Christmas party in the Thirukkurunkudi police station limits.

THE POLICE is said to have snatched three illegal weapons allegedly belonging to Mr. Jones. It is pertinent here to recall that the Tamil Nadu Police had claimed that one of their officers had lost a pistol in their anti-people operation here at Idinthakarai on September 10, 2012.

The Special Sub-Inspector at the Thirukkurunkudi police station, Mr. Ramachandran, has been investigating this serious wild life crime but the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Tirunelveli district, Mr. Vijayendra Bidari is supposedly protecting Mr. Jones from honest investigation and proper prosecution. As the higher police officials are being protected by themselves and the state machinery, ‘ordinary citizens’ fighting for their life and livelihood are booked under Goondas Act and are accused of ‘sedition’ and ‘waging war on the state’ and so forth.

The People’s Movement Against Nuclear Energy (PMANE) struggle committee demanded the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu to initiate a serious inquiry into this wild life hunting case, expose the police protection allegation and take action against all the culprits without fear or favor.

In a desperate move to distract the public attention from this serious case and malign our people’s valiant struggle, theVallioor DSP and his team have filed yet another case against us today alleging a ‘death threat’ in the form of an anonymous letter to the KKNPP officials.

“The PMANE would like to establish that we and our people have nothing whatsoever to do with this ‘death threat’. The PMANE and our people have never indulged in or encouraged this kind of pusillanimous and cowardly activities in our 510-day-long peaceful and nonviolent struggle,” read an official press release.
