Police foil militants' plan to blow up Baglihar power project
In a startling revelation, three militants from PoK arrested recently from Jammu Railway station have admitted of being assigned the job to blow up the Baglihar power project in Jammu and Kashmir.

THE REVELATION has sent shivers down the spine of the entire state as the militants’ plan to blow up Baghliar is the biggest ever disclosure in the state. This has also given a strong validity to the existence of terror network active in the PoK, as has been often emphasized by India in many of the dialogue processes with Pakistan.

On a tip off, J&K police had rounded up three suspects from Jammu railway station this year and after preliminary investigation had handed over the three, including a female to Joint Interrogation Centre for further investigation.

It was reported in the investigation that the three had revealed that they had crossed over to this side through a ‘rehabilitation process announced by state chief minister Omar Abdullah’ to carry out the terror plot to blow off Baghliar project.

Their sustained interrogation also revealed that some of the top officials working in the project too are involved in this plan, the identification of whom has been kept secret and enquiry process is on.

As per the reports, Ramban police in the year 2009 had the inputs about the PoK terrorists embarking upon a plan to blow up the Baghliar project in which some of the top officials of the project were also alleged to have been involved.

The police at that time had listed the information as a case at Chanderkot and Ramban police stations. Some suspects too were rounded up for questioning, but failing to reach to some logical point, the police had to abandon the process.

However, the case remained registered in the police files and the police officials were put on the job to keep the track of the events. Meanwhile, seeing the gravity of the situation, police had beefed up the security apparatus of the Baghliar project by deploying more policemen on the project.

However, the recent arrest of three suspects from Jammu railway station evidently proves that the plan was in pipeline and was in process of the execution.
