TV visuals are enough to prove brutality of Punjab Police when several male policemen in Tarantaran on 4 March 2013 surrounded a young girl and continuously and mercilessly beat her up on the road with batons and slaps, allegedly because she complained about sexual harassment.
Are we living in a civilised country where such TV visuals defame country in the global world apart from causing sensational panic amongst the viewers regarding ‘khaki’ brutality by goons in uniform? Beating of a girl that too by male policemen cannot be justified and allowed even if the victim may be at fault.
The time has come to check such atrocities through instant punishment in open public for such goons, when victims may be allowed similar treatment to guilty ones in full view of media where TV visuals give instant and unchallenged proof of the crime. National Human right Commission (NHRC) should take immediate cognizance of the matter and take immediate and strongest action against guilty policemen.
