INFLATION IS consistently on the rise and it is proving a nightmare for pensioners having no other income/savings. As far as medical facilities are concerned, government-run dispensaries and hospitals do provide subsidized medicines and treatments and also reservations are there for senior citizens in the railways and other government facilities. Alternatively, a policy should be framed to deal with the price-rise after inflation that acts as a cushion for the pensioners.
However, the number of government dispensaries and the facilities available are not up to the mark and thus leave a scope for improvement. Also, there are senior citizens who are living alone in the cities and towns, who need security and support as their children have left for greener pastures abroad, these pensioners need some facilities in the private sector as well in daily use amenities.
Such measures will help pensioners in meeting the ends just with the amount of their pension. It is also time the children understand their responsibility towards their parents and help them during the tough time.
