Polio still prevalent in Bihar

BIHAR IS striving hard to get rid of polio. But alas; rosy days are still far behind for people of Bihar. The trepidation of deadly polio is still haunting the minds of millions of parent’s in Bihar. As a result they are making sure their children are administered polio vaccine as speedily as possible.
Perhaps due to this pathetic state of affairs; December 21, 2008 all over Bihar full preparations have been made to administer polio dozes by mobile teams to children of family living in under-construction urban colonies, semi-urban areas, brick kilns, stone quarries, premises of small and big industrial units and remote forest areas. Transit booths would be constituted to administer polio dozes to children at bus stands, railway stations, crowded markets and
mela areas. Earlier also, health department, government, non-government organisations, voluntary bodies and citizens have extended their co-operation in making the pulse polio campaign successful. The state government has appealed to all these bodies to make Pulse Polio campaign a success.
