Political parties and followers get set to celebrate Ambedkar Jayanti in a big way
It seems that this time around Ambedkar Jayanti is going to be observed with great rivalry and revelry with different groups claiming the Dalit leader as their exclusive hero. The annual observance takes place on 14 April to commemorate the memory of BR Ambedkar on his birth anniversary.

One may recall that it was in 2015, Ambedkar Jayanti was declared an official public holiday throughout India. The main celebrations take place at Chaitya Bhoomi in Mumbai and Deeksha Bhoomi in Nagpur.

On this day, the leading national figures, including the President of India, Prime Minister and leaders of various political parties pay homage at the statue of Ambedkar at the Parliament in New Delhi. A large numbers of people also visit local statues in all places to commemorate Ambedkar Jayanti by garlanding them.

On the eve of the birth anniversary of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, April 13, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the Dr Ambedkar National Memorial at 26, Alipur Road in Delhi – the place of his attainment of Mahaparinirvana on December 6 in 1956.

According to an official release, the memorial of Babasaheb Ambedkar, the creator of the Constitution of India has been given the shape of a book.

"The museum at the memorial intends to create an immersive experience into the life of Dr Ambedkar, and his contribution to India, through extensive use of static media, dynamic media, audio-visual content, and multimedia technologies," it added.

Also, a meditation hall has also been created. Toran Dwars, a Bodhi Tree, a musical fountain, and facade lighting are other important elements of the memorial.

Here is a famous quote of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar for us to mull over, "Democracy is not merely a form of Government. It is primarily a mode of associated living, of conjoint communicated."
