Politics of appeasement in India
Appeasement Politics is part of Indian politics. Since the last few years, leaders from BJP are trying to prove that they are not doing appeasement politics like Congress and others whereas the truth is quite different. This term in Indian politics started to gain popularity only after the formation of Sachar Committee by Central government in 2005.
I am no one to judge any political party or anyone in this country. After writing this article, I am leaving it for readers to decide what they feel about it. First of all we have to understand what appeasement is and then only it will be right for us to discuss about politics of appeasement. In literal meaning the word appeasement origins from word appease meaning to soothe, calm, relieve, pacify etc.

In politics, the meaning normally considered for appeasement are mentioned below and these meanings are taken from thesaurus ?

To pacify or attempt to pacify esp. an enemy or enemy state by granting concessions, often at the expense of principles.

  • The act of appeasing someone or causing someone to be more favorably inclined by granting concessions.

  • Let us consider that the leaders of BJP are taking meaning number one for appeasement. Then it is my sincere request to people of BJP to inform the country; who are those enemies with whom congress and other political parties are doing business. Most of the people in this country have enough knowledge to understand what BJP is trying to say when they talk about appeasement politics. In my personal opinion, whenever any political party in this country talks about plight of Muslims, it is appeasement politics for BJP.

With all my sincerity,  I hope leaders of BJP are not taking the meaning one for appeasement because if they are taking it at face value then it means they are considering 20 percent population of this country as enemy of this country.

As far as second meaning of appeasement is concerned, no party in India is above that. BJP is mainly doing the politics of appeasement for fanatics of the majority community.

It has to be understood that most of the people in this country don?t vote on the line of communal politics. Most of the people whether Muslims or Hindus vote for good governance and for prosperity and their well being. The unfortunate thing is that few leaders such as Modi, Azam Khan, Vasundhara Raje, Sonia Gandi and Amit Shah etc. are raking these communal issues to attract a few percentage of zealots from both the communities.

The second most unfortunate thing is that their percentage is good enough to change the result of the elections. That is more problematic than anything else in this country. The root cause of most of the problem in this country is non availability of proper education to the people of country.

Though, literacy rate may be somewhat good in India but real educated people in this country are very less. I don?t have to provide enough details for that. Anyone can see the languages used by different people in social media for the leaders they don?t like. They use highly derogatory remark and language, which is non parliamentary in nature.

Even the so called fourth pillar of democracy is not doing any good for the country by discussing such things. They are airing prime-time discussions on such subjects rather than discussing real issues. All the communities and castes in this country want to progress in life but that should be with security of life and their belongings.

Where is the discussion on good governance along with proven data from any party? Most of the parties? spokespersons are saying that they had done wonders during their tenure in a particular state or in the country. But, no such thing is happening in reality. How many journalists are really bothered to visit places in different states and prove them right or wrong by airing the truth from the ground rather than discussing things from the air conditioned room?

I had visited several states in the country and the plight of the poor people is almost same in every state such as UP, Delhi, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, MP and so on. The plight of poor people in this country is an eye opener, but no one is bothered to provide a timeline for providing them a respectable life.
