Poll sops: Cabinet hikes DA of central government employees to 100%
Today in a Cabinet meeting the Congress-led UPA government decided to raise the Dearness Allowance (DA) of the Central government employees from 90% to 100%, and its merger with basic salary.

This move will benefit 50 lakh Central government employees and 30 lakh pensioners. The Govt. has also approved Rs 1,000 per month as the minimum pension under EPFO scheme. The Govt. has decided that Andhra Pradesh will be put under President's Rule.

In an another important decision the government decided to defer the anti-corruption ordinance. The Govt. also cleared Election Commission proposal to raise expenditure limits for Lok Sabha elections to Rs 70 lakh for every candidate.

The items that were on the agenda of the cabinet today included the Disabilities Rights Bill, an ordinance to amend the SEBI Act, amendment to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Act seeking to make violations and penalties more stringent, and an approval for 54 new Kendriya Vidyalayas.

These decisions has come just before the general election which is just a doorstep away now. The Congress government is trying its best to lure the voters by giving them gifts one after other. As the chances of Congress government post 2014 polls is very thin, so it seems that the party is trying whatever it can to get public's attention.
