The researchers conducted the research on a sample of 1,000 pairs of female twins in Britain, who were in their mid fifties, before they came up with the conclusion about Wine, which helps in reducing risks of osteoporosis. The results of the research were however published in American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. If one has a heavy habit of drinking then, it is surely not good for his bones, as stated by telegraph.co.uk.
It is still not clear as to how would wine be able to help in reducing the chances of Osteoporosis, but it has been said that it builds bone strength as wine is made up of grapes, which contain a chemical called, polyphenols in the Grapes skin, so it has to be understood that it not the alcohol content present in wine, which builds the bone strength.
Calcium is considered to be very important in order to strengthen the bones. Apart from wine mentioned above , there are various other foods which is capable of strengthening the bone such as milk, nuts, yogurt, cheese, pumpkin , sunflower seeds, salt water fish. Milk contains a lot of calcium, for example a full glass of milk would contain 300 mg of calcium.
But, too much of calcium is also not good for bones, so it is important to have a good balance with vitamins too. Hence, Salt water fish is important, which contains high level of Vitamin D.
