A message for Mamata Banerjee & Anna Hazare- Post TMC's flop show at New Delhi,
The Ramlila ground in Delhi was supposed to be used as a launch-pad for Trinamool Congress president Mamata Banerjee’s national ambition while making anti-graft crusader Anna Hazare as party mascot. Hazare had earlier praised Mamta as she responded to his letter and promised to campaign for her.

However, in an embarrassment to Mamata Banerjee, 75% chairs were empty and Anna too skipped this ambitious rally. A miffed Mamata though started her speech mentioning minority concerns following usual blames on BJP, Congress and her bête noir CPM. The summary is that her speech was unimpressive, the rally was non-responsive and her dreams of national ambition shattered before it could even start.

The entire episode compelled me to conclude two messages, one for Mamata and other for Anna Hazare.

Message to Mamata Banerjee: She must realize the fact that ambition is always good, but over-ambition is very harmful. The problem started when Anna was ready to endorse Mamata. She suddenly started dreaming to be Prime Minister hoping that presence of Anna would give her required seats from Pan India. Thus she decided to do the rally in Delhi in the presence of Anna to declare that her party is going national.

However, she forgot three basic laws of organizing a rally. First, you must have dedicated workers/activists who work 24X7 to mobilize people for a rally. Second, people usually come attracted to a rally, if there is a popular leader or there is a public cause. Third and foremost important point is timing and scheduling of a rally.

Mamata doesn’t have any TMC worker or activist outside Bengal. She herself is not popular outside Bengal. Anna could have been an attraction, but along with Anna people would like to see a cause. TMC’s national ambition is definitely not a public cause. Had it be a holiday or after office hour even on a working day, people would have come there to see Anna and also curiously to know what Mamata’s gambit is.

Now the suggestion to Mamata is, she better concentrate on Bengal and grow herself as a regional satrap so as to bargain with the new central government for the interest of her state. When you can’t fetch a handsome crowd in a small state like Delhi, how can you expect votes from rest of India? The common sense says first test the water!

Message to Anna Hazare: Anna must realize that he is a rare persona India has after a long period. People of India like him, love him and respect him. However every Indian would always like to see Anna with a right public interest cause. He shouldn’t forget that his fasting at Mumbai on Jan-Lokpal failed particularly due to the fact that people thought the fast was unnecessary as Parliament has already took up the Lokpal issue. Also people realised at that moment that Team Anna on over-excitement organized this fast only at the cost of Anna’s health.

People were very happy when he distanced himself from AAP. Point is simple; people do not want to see Anna standing with any party/organization with a selfish agenda. Anna should have denied to be part of all these chaos. Better late, than never.

Anna has to realize that although it's his hard work, honesty and activism behind the stature of persona Anna, it’s also his responsibility to uphold and maintain the stature of persona Anna. Whenever people became clueless or hopeless, persona Anna quickly came in their thoughts as a savior. Thus attaining a high status is always commendable and sustaining that stature too is a responsibility.

Hope Anna wouldn’t misuse his personality. There are still many issues related to public problems. He is free to take any issue of public concern, immediately another Team Anna would surface and spontaneous public support would flow in. I can suggest also a burning issue! That is the behavior of MPs and MLAs inside the house. None but only Anna is able to compel the Parliamentarian to behave inside the august house.
