Power engineers to observe 'Monday' as black day as mark of protest
PSEB Engineers’ Association has decided to observe today, 10th of February as black day ,the first working day of new term of CMD / PSPCL to protest against Governments draconian move to amend the tripartite agreement unilaterally.

An emergency meeting of the executive committee of PSEB  Engineers’ Association  strongly condemned the violation of  the sacrosanct Tripartite agreement  by  Government, enhancing the upper age limit of CMD from 62 to 65 years just to oblige an opportunistic and self-aggrandising individual by changing the qualification criteria of  CMD/Directors unilaterally. A non-cooperation movement was decided with the management and Punjab government, immediately and wear black badges..

The house also strongly deplored the Chief Minister, who is known for his statesmanship, for going overboard and playing into the hands of bureaucracy. The bureaucracy  led by Secretary/Power suppressed the importance of the word ‘understanding' in addition to incomplete adherence to ‘consultation’, incorporated in the TPA by simply sharing with the Association.

Baldev Singh president of Association said, this is a  sheer betrayal of trust reposed by engineers, into his words and assurances, at the time of unbundling and thereafter in subsequent meetings. Such age extensions are not given in central PSUs and organisations like Army as these are detrimental to maintaining the chain of the managerial talent for the overall organisational development.

Sanjeev Sood, General Secretary of Association said that the ulterior move of the CMD PSPCL to call engineers for  official meetings and to  intimidate them into signing on pre drafted letter in favour of his extension, was condemned. Executive members vowed to fight tooth and  nail to get this violation of TPA undone.

The Association will issue white paper on the whole episode of violation of TPA and motives behind CMD, PSPCL’s term extension on February 16. The Association will hold candle light march at Patiala on February 19 to be followed by candle march at Bathinda , Jalandhar , Amritsar  and  Ludhiana with a gap of 7 days.

The Association will  further intensify the agitation  by resorting to work to rule and even to the extent of calling for strike.
