Power position in Haryana set to improve: HPGCL engineers

Power position in Haryana will improve further after 300 MW Unit no. 1 of Yamuna Nagar thermal plant is synchronized next month, said Rajender Panchal, newly elected President of Haryana Power Generation Engineers Association.

RAJENDER PANCHAL said that the rotor of unit no. 1 which was sent to China for repairs after turbine problems on March 31 this year has been received back at Yamuna Nagar earlier this week. Earlier unit 2 was revived last month and is running at full load.

HPGCL Engineers Association elected its new office bearers on Saturday. Rajender Panchal from Yamuna Nagar thermal and Hardeep Sangwan from Panipat thermal were unanimously elected President and General Secretary of the association. Jit Singh from Khedar thermal was elected Sr. Vice President. RK Jangra and R K Kuchhal were made patrons of the association.

V K Gupta, Finance Secretary of Northern India Power Engineers Federation (NIPEF) said that the Federation has written to CMD of Haryana Discoms offering to make a presentation on the loss reduction measures.

NIPEF, in a letter has mentioned that the Patiala model could be replicated successfully in Haryana with minor changes. The result of the pilot project at Patiala has been adopted by the PSPCL management and this model has been extended to the entire state with funding through REC.

In Punjab, the PSEB engineers took the initiative in 2007-08 to reduce losses in selected 11 kV feeders in Patiala circle, by introduction of low cost strategies with payback period of the order of 1-2 years, through departmental efforts. This project also demonstrated increase in distribution efficiency in many other areas like reliability index, improved voltage and reduction of employee cost.
