Pradyuman Thakur murder case: CBI detains class XI student suspected of murdering the child
In a sudden turn of events, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today detained a class XI student of Ryan International School, Gurgaon who is suspected of carrying out the gruesome murder of seven-year-old Pradyuman Thakur, a student of the same school.

Although not much details are available about the detention in connection with the Pardyuman Thakur murder case which made national headlines in the month of September this year, the CBI is expected to release an official statement later today.

In an exclusive interview with India Today, the arrested class XI student's father confirmed the detention but also said that there was a conspiracy to frame his son.

Claiming that his son was the first one to spot Padyuman on the day of the murder, the arrested student's father said that his son was grilled by the CBI for the entire day at their New Delhi headquarters before being detained.

The arrested student's father has reportedly told India Today that the investigators told him that his son murdered Pradyuman because he wanted school exams to be postponed. The father has also alleged that the boy was tortured by the CBI and wasn't allowed to meet his family before being detained.

On the other hand, CBI sources have told India Today that the juvenile has confessed murdering Pradyuman. "We have material evidence as well," one source said.

Until now, school bus conductor Ashok Kumar, who had been arrested on the day of the murder had been the prime suspect in the case. Gurgaon Police had even claimed that the conductor had confessed to attempting a sexual assault on the seven-year-old boy before slitting his throat when he resisted.

Due to sustained pressure from the parents of the killed child, the ML Khattar-led BJP government of Haryana transferred the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation.

However, the conductor later told the media that he was forcefully made to confess to the crime by the police. Even Pradyuman's parents had expressed suspicion and alleged that Ryan International School was concealing information related to the murder of their son.

On the morning of September 8, 2017, seven-year-old Pradyuman Thakur, a class II student of Ryan International School, Gurgaon, had been found lying in a pool of blood with his throat slit in the school's washroom. It was later revealed by a postmortem that a 18x2 cm neck-to-ear cut had killed the boy.
