Prakash Diwas of Sri Guru Granth Sahib observed with devotion and gaiety in Amritsar
On the eve of Prakash Diwas of Sri Guru Granth Sahib in Amritsar, the Centre on Studies in Sri Guru Granth Sahib of the Guru Nanak Dev University organized a Symposium on August 31.
WHILE URGING the young scholars of the Centre on Studies in Sri Guru Granth Sahib to spread the message of Gurbani world, the former jathedar of Akal Takht Giani Joginder Singh Vedanti highlighted the importance of Gurbani canonization and its interpretation.
Director of Center, Dr. Balwant Singh Dhillon dwelled on social relevance of the message of Sri Guru Granth Sahib and its relevance to some of the modern-day problems like interfaith relations, loss of values, ecological imbalance, environmental degradation, etc. Inderjit Singh, a renowned scholar held that only the Bani of Shri Guru Granth Sahib could bring peace in the world, according to an official press release.
Parkash Utsav celebrations of Sri Guru Granth Sahib were celebrated on September 1 with Nagar kirtans, langars and recitation of hymns by various city gurdwaras to mark its 408th anniversary. Sri Guru Granth Sahib is the 11th Guru of the Sikhs to whom Sikhs approach whenever they look for spiritual upliftment.

It is a value-based compendium of the religious, mystic and metaphysical poetry written or sung between the 12th and 17th Century in different parts of India.
The followers of Sri Guru Granth Sahib are supposed to cultivate the qualities of contemplation, stillness of mind and inwardness reflection in the midst of worldly engagement.
