After a decade of agitation for Telangana, now it is upto the UPA-2 government to solve this issue without any delay. The solution must be satisfactory to the Andhra people - otherwise Andhra Pradesh may witness more emotional agitations.
THE EXERCISE that's being done by the top brass of UPA-2, should have been done much earlier. Whether the present ‘work out’ can pave the way for a solution or not is unclear but Telangana followers must be satisfied that their agitation and concerns have been paid much attention by the Centre after a long time. Until the start of the general strike (Sarva Janula Samme), the central government was a mute spectator regarding the Telangana issue.

The strike of APSRTC and low production of electricity place the Kirankumar Reddys government in a defensive position and made people to criticize the central and state governments for their overall neglect in tackling them. The careless attitude of Chief Minister and his unwarranted statements irked the Telangana people much. The Governor’s role is also important here as he did not awake the central government in time after taking out time from undertaking yatras to temples. He thinks high of himself and over-riding the CM in view of his low importance, does not seem to be one his priorities. He feels as if he was the CM always and many opposition leaders have been alleging that the governor is running a parallel government. His intention might be to rule Andhra Pradesh if the center imposes President’s Rule. Apparently, he wants to be in the good books of Sonia Gandhi to extend his term once again.
Now the situation is appearing different in Delhi as Telangana issue should be solved by hook or by crook. This was not the situation in the past. When 90 percent of the people want Telangana, where is the logic in suppressing the agitation? It should be solved immediately.
Some options have been discussed with Congress leaders. Pranab has said discussions with their party leaders have concluded. Can trouble shooter Pranab Mukharjee solve the Telangana tussle? This is the question that'e there in every citizen's mind in Andhra Pradesh. The options that have appeared in the newspapers are the ones that are often discussed - all except keeping Hyderabad as a Union Territory for a period of five or six years, and in the mean time Andhra people can build their capital and shift there. Afterwards, Hyderabad will become free and join Telangana as capital. This may be accepted by Telangana Rastra Samithi but KCR has said that it was not acceptable until and unless was in the form of a resolution in the parliament. This is the only suitable solution to keep two regions separate. Let us hope this may be adopted after it is discussed by all the parties.
