President and Vice President of India greet people on Ganesh Chaturthi
The President of India Ram Nath Kovind and Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu have greeted the people on the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi which is being celebrated on August 25.

In his message, President Kovind said, "On the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, I convey my heartiest greetings and good wishes to my fellow citizens. Lord Ganesha, widely worshipped as the God of wisdom, prosperity and good fortune, is traditionally invoked at the beginning of new ventures. The great freedom fighter, Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak championed the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi to garner support for our country's freedom movement. Let us on this day recall this inclusive vision and re-dedicate ourselves to building a strong and caring India where peace and prosperity prevail."

He wished, "May the celebrations of the birth of Lord Ganesha remove all obstacles in India's path of progress and bless us all with joy, prosperity and peace."

In a message, Vice President Naidu stated, "I extend my warm greetings and good wishes to the people of our country on the auspicious occasion of 'Ganesh Chaturthi'."

"Ganesh Chaturthi marks the birth of Lord Ganesh. In our country Lord Ganesh is revered as an embodiment of wisdom, prosperity and good fortune. Invoking the auspicious name of Lord Ganesh before start of any good work and project is a common practice across our country. May this festival bring peace, prosperity and harmony in our country," he added.
