INDIAN PRESIDENT Pratibha Patil, her husband Devisingh Shekhawat and Orissa governor MC Bhandari on Wednesday, December 9, had a close shave with death, when three blades of the heliopter ferrying them back from Puri, hit an asbestos shed at Bhubaneswar airport in the evening. All three VVIPs are safe, a senior official said.
Three blades of the 16-seater helicopter struck the shed, uprooting its asbestos roof, he said adding the three blades bent under the impact.The president was returning to Bhubaneswar after inaugurating an Urban Haat at Puri. Her family members and Orissa Governor were present inside the helicopter. All had a providential escape in the accident which could have been a disaster
The pilots should be very careful when they ferry passengers in helicopters and should pay special attention to the landing process.
