President Kovind and PM Modi greet people on Guru Ravidas Jayanti
President Ram Nath Kovind has greeted fellow citizens on the birthday of Guru Ravidas on February 19 saying, "On the sacred occasion of Guru Ravidas Jayanti, I extend my greetings and good wishes to fellow citizens."

He added, "Guru Ravidas was among those who led the Bhakti movement in northern India. He gave the people a message of peace, harmony and fraternity. He made people aware of the evils of discrimination and urged overcoming them."

"On the birth anniversary of this great spiritual leader, let us follow his teachings, and strive to strengthen the virtues of humanity and social equity," he urged, stated a press release.

According to another press release, on Ravidas Jayanti, Prime Minister paid homage to the statue of Shri Guru Ravidas. He then laid the foundation stone of Guru Ravidas Birth Place Development Project at Shri Guru Ravidas Janmasthan Temple, Seer Goverdhanpur.

The release added that speaking on the occasion; the PM said that the teachings of the mystic poet inspire us every day. He stressed that people won't be able to connect with each other and there won't be any equality in the society if there is caste-based discrimination,.

He urged all to follow the path shown by Sant Ravidas and said had it been followed,  we would have weeded out corruption .PM added that a grand park will be constructed with a statue of the seer, and all the facilities for the pilgrims will be there in one place as a part of the project.
