President Kovind and Vice President Naidu greet teachers across the country on Teacher's Day
President of India Ram Nath Kovind and Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu have paid homage to Dr Radhakrishnan and greeted teachers across the country on Teachers' Day.

In a message, the President said, "The birth anniversary of former President of India Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, a philosopher and an illustrious teacher, on 5th September, is celebrated every year as Teachers' Day."

He added, "Our nation has a warm tradition of the Guru Shishya parampara by which teachers impart their knowledge to students and empower them. It is our moral responsibility to pay respect and regard to teachers, as they are role models who guide children to become good and productive human beings. Teachers also develop the creativity of children and kindle a desire in them to be innovative."

Vice President Naidu in his message  stated, "I extend my warm greetings and good wishes to the people of our country on the occasion of National Teachers' Day. Every year 5th September is observed as National Teachers' Day to commemorate the birthday of India's second President Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, an educationist and scholar par excellence."

"Teachers are the real nation builders as they shape the future of every child and mould him/her into a responsible citizen. In our country, Teachers' Day is a special day and thousands of teachers are honoured and felicitated on this occasion for the invaluable services rendered by them," he added.
