President Kovind greets people on Durga Puja, Dussehra and Vijayadashmi
President Ram Nath Kovind greeted people on the occasion of Durga Puja, Dussehra and Vijayadashmi. He, in his released message stated, "In his message, the President said "On the auspicious occasion of Durga Puja and Vijayadashmi, I convey Shubho Bijoya as well as Dussehra greetings and best wishes to all my fellow citizens in India and abroad."

"Durga Puja and Vijayadashmi symbolise the victory of truth and righteousness over evil. This is a day to share our happiness with the less-fortunate, the lonely and those in pain. It is also an opportunity to cherish the spirit of unity and bonds of fraternity among our people," he added.

He urged, "Let us celebrate Goddess Durga as the epitome of Shakti. May she guide us to work to empower women in society, especially girl-children. And let us celebrate Lord Rama as a reflection of the moral and eternal values that have guided our way of life since time immemorial."

Spiritualist Amma – Mata Amritanandamayi Devi – says, "During the nine days leading up to Vijayadasami, Devi is worshipped in different manifestations. Durga is worshipped for good health and success; Mahalakshmi, for wealth; and Sarasvati for knowledge. To achieve material success, each of these is essential: health, wealth and knowledge."

Terming Devi Maa as the Mother of the Universe, she maintains that Her love is for all of creation, she says, "It is a selfless love that flows equally to all creatures alike. The Mother of the Universe is also the cause for the universe's creation, sustenance and dissolution. Like the sun and its light, like honey and its sweetness, like the veena and its sounds, like a word and its meaning, this world and the power of God that exists as the world's foundation are inseparable. In that sense, everything we perceive in this world is but a different manifestation or mood of the Divine Goddess."
