President Pranab Mukherjee receives first copy of book 'Metaphysics, Morals and Politics' in Kolkata
President Pranab Mukherjee, who is on a visit of West Bengal, received the first copy of book 'Metaphysics, Morals and Politics' from Prof Amal Kumar Mukhopadhyay on May 18 in Kolkata, stated a press release.

The President described the author Prof Amal Mukhopadhyay a brilliant scholar and said that posterity would remember his 'mighty mind' who had a state scholar of the Government of West and later on joined as a research scholar at the London School of Economics and began his PhD research on TH Green, the 19th century English idealist political philosopher.

Prof Mukhopadhyay was awarded PhD degree by London University. His thesis was published in a book titled 'The Ethics of Obedience' who later decided to bring out his original thesis contradicting and elaborating some of his earlier arguments. Now, the book has come with a new title 'Metaphysics, Morals and Politics', said the release.

According to Mukherjee, politics without morality is no politics and the issue had become all the more important because of the tremendous changes that took place in the 2nd half of the last century because of internet, mobile phones and technological revolution in the field of communication.

Mukherjee said that Prof Green established a bridge between morals and politics while applauding Prof Mukhopadhyay for establishing the extreme relevance of Green's ideas in the modern world.
