Prime Minister Modi, J&K Governor and Chief Minister greet people on Navreh festival of Kashmiri Pandits
The Kashmiri Pandits are celebrating their New Year Day Navreh today. Prime Minister Narendra Modi; J&K Governor NN Vohra, and J&K Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti have greeted people on the occasion of Navreh celebrated by Kashmiri Pandits with great devotion and fervour.

"Navreh Mubarak! As the New Year begins, I pray that everyone's lives are blessed with tremendous happiness, prosperity and good health. Every Indian takes immense pride in the rich culture of the Kashmiri Pandit community", the Prime Minister said.

Governor NN Vohra has conveyed greetings to the people on the auspicious occasion of Navratras and Navreh on the onset of spring season and prayed for harmony, brotherhood, amity and peace, and bring progress and prosperity for the people of J&K state.

Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti wished people of the state progress and prosperity on the occasion of Navratras and Navreh. In her message, the CM wished that the two festivals should become the harbinger of harmony, brotherhood, amity and peace. She added that 'such festivals seek us to ask for divine blessings and forgiveness'.

Navreh is a festival of Kashmiri Pandits which is celebrated as New Year and is dedicated to Goddess Sharika who is worshiped on the festival that falls on the first day of the bright half of the month of Chaitra.

On this day, many Kashmiri Pandits visit Vichar Nag sacred spring to take holy dip one day before Navreh. After, the dip and prayers, they take away herb and homemade rice flour cake to their homes as prasada. They celebrate the festival with all cheerfulness, devotion and gaiety.
