Brake problems are being reported with Toyota Prius 2009 version, with as many as 140 complaints to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration so far. Apple co founder Steve Wozniak has said that his Toyota Prius is having the same trouble.
TROUBLES FOR Toyota seem to be only beginning as about 140 complaints have come in about brake problems with the Toyota Prius 2009 version. The compaints talk about the car not immediately responding to the brake pedal as well as sudden acceleration.
About two injuries and two crashes have been reported to the company due to these troubles with the Toyota Prius. These problems with the brake pedal and sudden acceleration, as per the complaints, have usually occurred when the car went over a bump or a pothole.
One owner from Commerce Township has complained to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration saying that their Toyota Prius lurched whenever they hit a particular pothole. “This has almost resulted in the Prius striking the car in front of it. It makes it impossible to safely judge your braking distance in order to come to a safe stop because you never know when this phenomenon will occur.”
This Toyota Prius owner has been told by their Toyota dealer that their vehicle was within specifications and they had to "get used to it".
The Toyota Prius is not part of the Toyota recall for 2.3 million cars, which was issued recently to deal with a problem with the accelerator pedals.
One of these complainants is Apple co founder Steve Wozniak.
