Private schools to have mandatory quota for poor soon: Sibal
Sibal said in Bangalore that the government will not budge an inch from this mandatory provision in the Right to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act 2009, as govt wants to give opportunity to all poor children to study in private schools.
HUMAN RESOURCE Development minister, Kapil Sibal said on Monday that reserving 25 percent seats for children belonging to poor families will be made mandatory and its violation will be a punishable offence. While attending a function in the city, Sibal said that if private schools do not comply with the provision, they will not be allowed to function, as it will be difficult to achieve the goal of inclusive education otherwise. He further added that all private schools will have to apply for recognition, failing which they will be penalised up to Rs 100,000. If they still continue to function without paying penalty, they will be liable to pay Rs 10,000 per day as fine.
Meanwhile, the National Commission for protection of child rights has been given the task of mandating and monitoring the implementation of this Act, while a special division will undertake the task.

.What is use of RTE Act? After implementing, there are many schools like St. Joseph, DAV Public Schools, etc, never admit any child in there school under this act. Even though asked to take on basis of RTE Act. They are directly, they don't know such act. And BPL child are not able to admission any private schools. Even after the quota systems comes, still there are many BPL child will suffer, by not getting admissions in any schools. Govt should enforce this act and have a timely check on every schools. This is only possible when all the Govt people who goes to those for checking should not be corrupt.
